The Fair Fair Fare

We are all subject to the same laws in this country, ideally. Objectively, we are all subject to the same opportunities of advancement and "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" as we are all citizens of the good ole U.S. of A. And while technically, yes, we are all afforded the same things as said citizens, we're not able to achieve much as equal counterparts in a society that values freedoms and rights above all things. We know this because systemic racism runs rampant throughout all avenues of our society. Wage inequality and stagnation are formulaic designs intended to make the poor even poorer while a small number of rich people benefit from Capitalistic exploitations of the poor. We have inequality in society with regards to women, the LGBTQIA community, and all people of color, due to radical Christian Nationalism pushing an agenda that would keep women as second class citizens, subject queer people to violence and death, and terrorize black people and all people of color all in the name of Jesus. White people have claimed ownership and branded the trademark of  "Murica" and "Trumpism" while gleefully singing the tune "this land is my land, that land is my land, from over there and, all land is our land." Speaking ill of such things is simply spitting in the face of the founding fathers.

Interpreting the thoughts and understanding and meanings of rich, white, slave owners from a 200 years ago is kind of silly. The things we have today, the things we do, the laws we make, would literally stymie the founding fathers rationale. As we have evolved, constitutional thinkers have studied and examined all aspects of our constitution and make many assessments over time. We have amendments to things that needed fixed in accordance to modern interpretation and thinking. We correct the right things that our forefathers got wrong in the past in order to function as a thriving democracy, albeit, a dysfunctional two party bought by corporate funding democracy. We live in the land of milk and honey.

What is interesting about our laws is how they affect poor people. Instances that benefit the rich and upper class are seen as acceptable, but completely "unfair" when applied to the poor people and the working class. Especially when it comes to cheating, drug use, and nepotism. Money talks and if one class of people has more money than another, it can impact how employees are hired. It can determine jail and prison sentences. Money can buy a persons way into extravagant rehabilitation facilities and without it, another person could be labeled as a mentally unwell junkie subject to years of addiction and public hospitalization. Fairness has been polluted by a power structure that rewards those who hold influence and those who make laws to punish those who do not comply. It's never a question when rich people bilk the system, only when poor people do it and benefit in the same way. Ideally we are a country of law abiding citizens with a common goal to benefit and uplift all of mankind. Except that our laws are constantly changing and becoming narrower so much so to the point of mixed interpretations by bodies of government who cannot agree on who should benefit and who should be punished.

As long as a person stays in line, the question of objectivity is a moot point. It's that moment when a social class, who has had enough of being spit upon, had their money stolen and given to corporate backers, and had their livelihoods exploited so that rich oligarch's can build rocket ships to travel into space, in that moment, society fails itself and neglects to protect one another from the evil of greed and consumerism. There may be trade offs and some people maybe granted special access to witness the carnival from the front row, but in the end, all the talking heads are still part of the social class deemed human cattle for a social elitist class. That's a scary actualization that many face today. And there are no uprisings. Little is being done to point out that the road this civilization is heading down, is one that has been travelled down far too many times in the past by extinct civilizations. Are we morally obligated to stand up to oppressors? Absolutely. Should we continue to examine and reinterpret laws that benefit and apply to any class of people. Of course. Will we do anything about it? Not likely. Social media has become our soap box and the ruling class makes sure that we have work to do. Otherwise, they'll increase the cost of living more. They will impact foreign wars in the name of nationalism. And they will enslave us all, just to make a buck.

Whether it is fair or not, society will pay the cost.
