We get used to hearing it.
We get used to seeing the headlines.
We get used to the arguments from ill mannered people.
We get used to ammosexuals claiming 2nd amendment rights.
We get used to another tragedy.
We get desensitized to the carnage.
We watch families mourn.
We sympathize and empathize and send tots and pears.
We get used to the cycle.
Until it happens again.
We repeat the trauma without ever solving the issue.
There have been countries in the world that have addressed issues concerning mass shootings. Some of these countries have had great success in bringing down gun violence and eliminating mass shootings, school shootings, so that their citizens may live without fear. The U.S. trails behind these countries. In doing so, we are constantly fighting between each other about the 2nd amendment and gun rights. The main argument seems to be "criminals will find guns no matter what" and to be fair, a hungry dog will find food in any trash can, but it doesn't mean that still don't euthanize strays. Now I am not suggesting euthanizing politicians, because that would be wrong. They serve as representatives of a larger body. A body that is more concerned with purging books about the LGBTQIA+ community, regulating women's reproductive rights, and banning CRT (a course that isn't even taught in schools) while upholding systematic racism toward all POC. There are so many folks out there who are actively voting for politicians who are quick and eager to tear away at EVERY constitutional right that we have fought for over the last 50-60 years, but none of them see a problem with taking away rights and treating "the others" as second class citizens. These folks would rather protect the 2nd amendment, with its poorly worded statements, and tote around military grade assault rifles for sport. And when called out on it, they always say "the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun." How's that working out for ya? How is that fantasy, hero complex, delusion working out for ya? Any of you? While the blood of more innocents has yet to dry from walls and concrete, from shopping centers, schools, churches, discotheques, and concert events, where were those good guys stopping the bad guys? Sure, some of you need guns. I know the need to want to protect myself and my family. That isn't what this is about. "Mental illness" you say. We are no more a country overrun with mentally ill deranged shooters, than any other country. What we are full of is a lot of B.S. and voters who vote against their own best interest. This isn't THE LORD OF THE FLIES. And no matter how much we plead and beg for comprehensive gun control and stricter gun laws. Some of you will never hear it. You will never listen. And you will bang the gong for constitutional 2nd amendment rights and claim that they are "god given". Your god is evil, if you think that your god is okay with the slaughter of innocence just so you can enjoy an unhealthy relationship with a gun. Your god is sadistic, if you believe that he supports murderous behavior. Your god and religion are poison if you believe that the individual right is more sacred than the community as a whole. In a society that claims to be doing the work of god, you fail 100% of the time at feeding the poor, housing the homeless and caring for the sick. Your god is vile if you believe that "all things happen according to god". It's a sickness and unfortunately, many of you suffer it. We can't keep doing nothing. We can't keep wiping tears from our eyes every time another incident like this occurs. And we can't keep getting mad at an issue that can be solved by amending current laws and electing leaders who encourage growth within our society. Peaceful means. Tragedy is overwhelming. We can put an end to it if we would only try.
