Afterglow

When the light shifts
When it changes hues
When shadows chase each other on the walls and disappear behind nooks and crannies
When the night becomes the bayonet, piercing and stabbing and gutting and shooting for the targets that move within visible bounds
When the light sees the moon and crave for the wind
When the scent in the night carries lilac to the gloom
In stillness how they creep and unify into moonlight
And the light continues to shift
And I see your skin, radiant, softly glowing in starlight bathed
Before I slumber
When the light shifts
And slowly fades away
