And I treated her like a friend
She protected me from being forgotten
She stuck with me through the end
I got a little hot headed and left her behind
Came crawling back with my tail between my legs
She was a good woman to forgive my stupidty
And welcome me back into her grace
I did my best to highlight her good sides
When strangers threw her against the wall
I made sure to show them the beauty she provided
Even when it wasn't meant for all
She was my rock throughout all my hard times
She was my home, never far away from home
She was the dream that I had, when all others abandoned me
And I was left feeling alone.
The love of a good woman, when won right
Can turn a selfish boy into a man
And the warmth and compassion she extended to me
Helped that man to understand
If she could rise up from the ashes and still love his foolishness
Maybe he could settle down
If he could see her, and accept her for all that she is
He can stop being a clown.
