Southern California

We used to drive around town and talk about things we'd do
You'd say that you love me and I'd say I love you too
We always said that someday we would pack up and leave
We always swore to do things that neither one of us believed
We'd set out on a drive and see just how far we could get
Man those were days with you that I will never forget
Sometimes we'd dare each other to make a wrong choice
We never paid attention to the sound of our voices

Screaming
Aching to be set free
Under sun, shade and palm trees
And the cool ocean breeze
Living
In a house made out of our love
You and me couldn't get enough
Just a chance to rise above

All I needed, all I ever wanted to do
To make all your dreams come true
Was to take hold of your hand
And say that you were my man
Reliving our youth in the summer
On that drive to Southern California

We used to dance like two souls burning with lust and fire
We'd stay up till the sunrise and consume each other with desire
We always made up good lies to prove that we were going to make it last
And man you went back on your word everytime, that's a fact
There were times in our lives when all you did was push me away
I admit that I did too, just to keep my feelings at bay
We figured out that life was never going to give us a break
And pretty soon all the things that complicated life were too much to take

(And we found ourselves)

Screaming
Aching to be set free
Under sun, shade and palm trees
And the cool ocean breeze
Living
In a house made out of our love
You and me couldn't get enough
Just a chance to rise above

All I needed, all I ever wanted to do
To make all your dreams come true
Was to take hold of your hand
And say that you were my man
Reliving our youth in the summer
On that drive to Southern California

These days I don't see you around so much, and it's hard
We've both moved on to other things, and broken hearts
I've got someone who doesn't quite remind me of you
Man guess what, He says things that he knows he'll never ever do
You've got your land and a spot all your own
Under sun, under sky, but you're still all alone
I wish I could've given you that house filled with love
But now you're watching and waiting for me in that house up above

Screaming
Aching to be set free
Under sun, shade and palm trees
And the cool ocean breeze
Living
In a house made out of our love
You and me couldn't get enough
Just a chance to rise above

All I needed, all I ever wanted to do
To make all your dreams come true
Was to take hold of your hand
And say that you were my man
Reliving our youth in the summer
On that drive to Southern California
