I try to be simple

I try to be uncomplicated and woke

I try to be considerate of your feelings

I try to be stoked

I try to be free of judgement

I try to be clear of your bias

I try to be lovely because you're lovely

I try to be fly

I try to be on the verge of giving a damn

I try to be wild and free

I try to be forgiving

I try to be who I try to be

I try to be the hush in the middle of the night

I try to be the rush inside your veins

I try to be divisive to prove my point

I try to be the pleasure inside of your pain

I try to be sweetness

I try to be the sound of music in your ears

I try to be unhindered by my anxiety

I try to be brave to my fears

I try to be this grown up little boy

I try to be a reflection that you respect

I try to be raw in the face of emotion

I try to be happy regardless of what you expect

I try to be electric

I try to be light when there is darkness abound

I try to be still

I try to be that guy you like to be around

I try to be more than what I am willing to accept

I try to be the friend to turn to

I try to be willing to see another side of the story

I try to be reimaged in your view

I try to be in the present moment

I try to be a participant in my own life

I try to be more than I am willing to be

I try to be more than just getting by

It's complicated

I'm confused

There are many directions

My SELF gets pulled

There are many versions of my truth

Here I am. Tired and failing

Here I stand. Sometimes I fall

I try to be everything to everyone

And wind up being nothing at all.
